SPACIAL ARRAGEMENT

Organising room spaces and sizes:

School of Architecture with 100 students - 4 year groups of 25 students.

Lecture Booth (L) - 4m2, sound proof walls with desk, monitor, camera and microphone.

Studio Room 1 (STU) - 80m2 for approx. 27 people - space for movement, desks and chairs on wheels, projector board and white board on wheels. Folding divider doors that open up to studio 2.

Studio Room 2 (STU) - 80m2 for approx. 27 people - space for movement, desks and chairs on wheels, projector board and white board on wheels. Folding divider doors opening to studio 1.

Teaching Staff Office (TS) - 20m2 interconnecting with admin staff office, with folding doors that allow for group meetings. 4-6 staff members.

Admin Staff Office (AS) - 20m2 interconnecting with teaching staff, divider doors that open fully, providing space for large group meetings.  4-6 staff members.

Common Area (CA) - 72m2 with high tables and stools, low tables and chairs, couches, private corner booths separated by garden walls and moveable panels that are on wheels/ noise separators.

Computer Booths (CL) - 3m2 for each booth - 4 booths on the upper level (additional computer in common room available for use). Monitor, computer and desk.

Gallery/Bridge 1 - 24m2 walkway with artwork on display (connecting roundhouse to elevators).

Bridge 2 - 24m2 (connecting square house to stairs and offices).

Bathroom 1 (B) - 7.5m2 men, 7.5m2 women, 7.5m2 shared area with Airblade tap faucet (two in one, hand tap and dryer).

Bathroom 2 (B) - 7.5m2 men, 7.5m2 women, 7.5m2 shared area with Airblade tap faucet (two in one, hand tap and dryer).

Storage room (S) - 9m2 corner room.

Lift - 4m2.

Using round house facilities Eg: Large lecture rooms (if needed once off - as everything is online and students can watch recorded lectures), food areas.

Using square house facilities such as the workshops for the architectural students' fabrication and construction needs.

There will be no library in this building as all books, articles and other resources can be found on the school's library website. All PDF and electronically scanned versions of books will be available and can be browsed and obtained at any time.

Alternative Planing Options:

As an alternative to using the cross as inspiration for my architectural structure, I did a bubble diagram using Zaha Hadid's plan of the 'Vitra Fire Station.' I was able to plan out the different spaces and see where each room would be positioned as well as their capacity.
